About Us

People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWSBC) in British Columbia, Canada, formerly known as Power of Knowledge and Education of Animal Cruelty (POKE) is a non-profit organization that was founded in February 2003 by a group of individuals who are dedicated to educating the public about how animals are treated before they end up in your home! PAWSBC promotes the humane treatment of all animals.

Those who do nothing are inviting mistreatment of animals. If you don't take responsibility for knowing where your food, pets, entertainment, household items and clothing come from, you may be supporting animal cruelty.

Our funding comes exlusively from donations, and our activities are made possible primarily through the generous donations and help from volunteers.
